With worldwide concerns over issues like global warming and emerging disease on the rise, it is particularly important for you to understand how your decisions affect the ecosystems around you. In order to make informed decisions you will need a basic understanding of the principles of evolution and ecology. Topics covered include population genetics, speciation, population regulation, and community and ecosystem structure and dynamics.

In this course, we explore fundamental questions about the natural world, such as: Where do living things come from? Why are there so many different kinds of organisms? How have organisms come to be so well-adapted to their environment?
